Updating Your Theme

How to Update

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes.
  2. Make sure you activate another theme during the update. A WordPress defaolt theme like Twenty […] is usually a good choice during the update.
  3. Mouse hover the theme you wish to update, you’ll reveal the Theme Details clickable link. Click on Theme Details.
  4. On the bottom right corner of the pop-in window displaying the theme’s details, you’ll see a “Delete” red link. (If you don’t see the link, it means that the theme or a child theme of it is active, then go back to point 2 ). Click on the bottom left red Delete link.
  5. Install the new version of the theme as explained in the first chapter.

IMPORTANT: Any data or custom CSS added to Customiser > Additional CSS will not be lost when updating your theme. However, if you have made change to the core theme files, updating your theme WILL override your customisations.

Using a Child-Theme

If you need to customise the core files, make sure to use the child theme that comes with the ThemeForest download. You'll find the child theme in the folder Child_theme.

Installing Child Theme

A child theme is installed in the same way as the parent theme. Refer to this section about theme installation. Once you have uploaded your child theme make sure to activate it. You can then add any custom CSS to the style.css file that comes with the child theme.
